The Countryside Foundation for Education (CFE) is an educational charity that aims to promote the countryside as a living, working environment. We are committed to improving an understanding of rural Britain and to enhancing and improving the quality of education for young people in preparation for adult and working life. We produce balanced educational resources for schools that inform and encourage debate about the countryside. We also provide training for teachers about how to use the countryside as an effective teaching resource. A large part of our work in recent years is our rapidly expanding programme of Estate Open Days, which are held across the whole country. In 2001 we ran 3 days, in 2004 we will be running 40 days.
